A trial of new opening hours at Goomeri Library began on Monday (March 5).
Gympie Regional Council is implementing the change as a result of a recent Goomeri Library Survey.
The new hours are:
- Mondays: Closed
- Tuesdays: 9:00am to noon
- Wednesdays: 9:00am to noon
- Thursdays: 2:00pm to 5:00pm
- Fridays: 2:00pm to 5:00pm
- Saturdays: 9:00am to noon

Gympie Regional Council will be implementing a rainwater tank inspection program in Goomeri from April 3 to determine if disease-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are breeding in the area.
Water from tanks that are unscreened or damaged will be tested.
The Aedes aegypti mosquito can spread dengue fever, Ross River fever, Murray Valley encephalitis and Zika virus.
A confirmed case of dengue fever was recorded in the South Burnett in 2016.
