Junior motorcycle speedway action is returning to Kingaroy on Saturday

March 6, 2018

There’s lots happening at the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club track at Kingaroy Showground on (Saturday) March 10, including the club’s first Come and Try Day for 2018.

Riders aged between 4 to 16 years will have the opportunity from 9:00am  to check out the track along with having a go at riding in a safe and controlled environment.

There is no cost to participate and all riders will be issued a one-day licence to ride.

Riders will need to wear jeans, long sleeve shirt or jumper, gloves, boots or shoes with no laces and a helmet if they don’t have motorbike gear (the club does have some gear that can be borrowed on the day if need be).

“This year we are introducing Lites and SuperLites classes so riders can bring their own bikes in if they are up to 140cc,” club secretary Tracey Tunstall said.

“We will also have a couple of PW50s and a junior speedway bike for new riders to try.”

The Come and Try Day will be followed at noon by Bicycle Speedway at the track.

Cycle speedway is a form of bicycle racing on a short oval track. Riders can use either geared or no-gear pushbikes in the two-lap races.

The bicycles will be interspersed between the junior motorcycle events.

At 2:00pm, racing the first Club Day for the year will begin.

Entry for spectators is free.

“Everyone is welcome to come along and see what Junior Motorcycle Speedway is all about,” Tracey said.
