Triple R’s proposal would create a speedway circuit in competition with the current Kingaroy track

A proposal to built a multi-million dollar motorsport complex in the South Burnett looks unlikely to progress much further as the promoters behind the project have had no luck so far in finding a suitable location.

Triple R Motorsports Inc had been working for some time on a proposal to build the complex at Hervey Bay, but when that stalled they began looking at potential areas away from the coast.

southburnett.com.au understands Triple R representatives have spoken to numerous real estate agents in the South Burnett region over the past month, but the right parcel of land has not been found.

South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said there was no suitable land currently being held in council’s land portfolio, either.

The original Fraser Coast Motorsport Park proposal would have incorporated tracks for speedway bikes and sprint cars, sand and dirt drags and a driver training facility with skid pans.

Other ideas included a karna-cross and rally sprint track, and a quarter-mile bitumen drag racing track.

The 200ha parcel of land that Triple R is looking for must be flat, at least four kilometres away from a residential area, have power and water connected, and be accessible by a bitumen road.
