Cricket in the South Burnett is coming to the pointy end of the season with semi-finals scheduled to be played this weekend in the local B Grade competition.

Cherbourg, who finished Minor Premiers, will play the Blackbutt Timbertowners in the Major Semi-Final at Murgon State High School oval from 12:30pm.

The winner of this game will go straight through to the Grand Final.

If wet weather forces this match to be abandoned, Cherbourg will be deemed the winners as they finished in the top spot on the ladder.

The Minor Semi-Final, between Murgon Diggers and Kumbia Rattlers, is scheduled to be played at Murgon Showground. UPDATE: Now at Kumbia

If this game is washed out, the Rattlers’ season will be over as they finished fourth on the competition ladder.

Diggers would then face Blackbutt in a knockout final to decide the second Grand Final spot.

The 2018 season is now wrapped up for Wondai, Services and Nanango.

In the Gympie competition, the two-day match between competition leaders Murgon Crusaders and the combined South Burnett team, Southern District Devils, will continue at Murgon Showground on Saturday.

Day 1 was played last Saturday on the Stables pitch at the showground.

If Day 2 is washed out, the Grand Final of the Gympie two-day competition will be between the two South Burnett teams as they are in first and second place on the ladder.

However, if the game goes ahead, Gympie Valleys could still earn a spot in the Grand Final as only four competition points separate first and third placegetters.

The Grand Final will be played in Gympie even if the two South Burnett teams make it through.
