February 18, 2018

Veteran jockey Gary Geran, winner of the 2017 Kumbia Cup and a familiar face around South Burnett racetracks, was injured in a race fall in Toowoomba on Saturday.

Geran was riding De Bandit Vega in Race 6 at Clifford Park – the Art & Soul Maiden Handicap – when the four-year-old gelding fell near the 350m mark.

Geran was taken from the track by ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital with chest and shoulder injuries, and possible spinal injuries.

De Bandit Vega appeared to escape unscathed.

The running of Race 7 was delayed while paramedics treated Geran on the track.
