Firefighters were called out just after 3:00pm on Wednesday to a large grass fire burning at Hodgeleigh.

The fire, which appears to have started on a property on Hodgeleigh Road North, burned out a large paddock and also spread into nearby inaccessible terrain.

A fire brigade spokesman said the fire stretched along a 100m front with about 4ha burned.

Initially, there were fears buildings could be under threat, however firefighters quickly ensured no structures were at risk.

The spokesman said the fire was contained by 4:30pm but firefighters remained on the scene mopping up.

Firefighters from the Kingaroy urban and Malar-Booie, Hodgeleigh North and Stuart River rural brigades attended the fire.
