A fire that has been burning for two days in the Wondai State Forestry has created large plumes of smoke which could be seen from as far away as Kingaroy.

A Department of Environment and Science spokesperson said Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) rangers contained the wildfire on Wednesday.

Most of the crews will return to base on Thursday however one will remain on site to continue monitoring the area.

Smoke may continue to affect residents and motorists in the area over the next few days.
