Just under 1000 cattle were yarded for Murgon’s second last sale for 2017 last week, an increase of more than 10 per cent on the previous fortnightly sale.
All descriptions sold to very strong values with about 200 export cattle yarded, and the balance stores.
Cattle were consigned from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Durong, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy and locally.
Sale results:
- Heavy Bulls sold to $2.74/kg for $2440
- Bullocks sold to $2.89/kg and $1650
- Cows over 500kg averaged $2.21/kg for a top of $2.33/kg and $1620
- Cows 400–500kg sold to $2.18/kg and $1080 for a $2.11 average
- Lighter Cows under 400kg sold to $2.06/kg
- Heavier Export Heifers sold to $2.73/kg and $1475
- Hereford steers from J & B Seymour of Wondai sold for $2.98/kg and $1505
- Charbray steers from V & N Browning of Moffatdale also sold to $2.98/kg, returning $1340
- 412kg Droughtmaster steers from P. Lacey sold to $1260 and $3.07/kg
- 411kg Santa cross steers from J & C Pulham of Redgate sold for $2.95/kg, returning $1213
- 330kg Droughtmaster steers from G & A Ezzy of Gayndah sold for $3.45/kg to return $1140
- Angus steers from Murgon sold for $1200 at $3.69/kg
- Charolais cross steers from Manumbar sold for $3.21/kg, returning $1220
- Charbray weaner steers from Tansey sold to $3.65/kg for $903
- Brangus cross weaner steers from D & M Sheehan of Brigooda sold for $855 at $3.64/kg
- 258kg Braford cross weaner steers from P & A Dingle of Mt Perry sold for $937 at $3.63/kg
- 2 pens of Santa weaner steers from J & M Zillman of Gayndah sold for $960 ($3.52) and $823 ($3.60)
- 420kg Charolais cross heifers sold for $1152 at $2.73/kg
- 335kg Charbray heifers from Gayndah sold for $1030 at $3.08/kg
- Shorthorn heifers from J & A Rose of Moffatdale sold for $933 and $3.09/kg
- Charbray weaner heifers from Barcross Investments of Gayndah sold to $3.23/kg, returning $722
- Zillman weaner heifers also sold for $3.22 and $3.20, returning $730 and $797 respectively
- Red Brangus Cows and Calves from Mawson Pastoral Co of Mondure sold for $1500
- Droughtmaster cross Cows and Calves from Waringa Breeding Co of Hivesville sold for $1340
