South Burnett councillor Ros Heit presented badges to a group of Wondai QCWA members on Monday morning who between them have racked up an amazing 270 years of service to the organisation.

Former Wondai branch secretary Margaret Heritage has clocked an incredible 60 years with the QCWA (although it’s probable even more, as all the figures have been rounded down to the nearest decade).

Not far behind is Carol Francis with 50 years.

Eileen Beer and Elizabeth Mair both have 40 years of service, followed by Lois Beattie and Maureen Abbott on 30 years.

Margaret Kidd and Beryl Smith both received 10 year badges.

Lois Beattie said the Wondai QCWA, which meets opposite the Diggers Club, were regular supporters of the local community.

They serve morning tea each year on Reserve Forces Day and assist at other functions, including recently hosting afternoon tea for 40 Visitor Information Centre volunteers.
