Firefighters found a timber home well alight when they were called to a house fire in Hamilton Road at South Nanango on Monday afternoon.
Four urban fire units, police and an ambulance responded to the callout, just after 4:30pm.
The owner was on scene but did not require ambulance assistance.
A QFES spokesman said firefighters quickly got on top of the fire, but spent some time dampening down hot spots.
They were not able to determine the cause of the blaze, which gutted the building, so the QFES fire investigation unit was called in.
An investigator was on scene until about 8:00pm but the cause is still unknown.

Seven fire crews attended on Monday with some staying on scene until about 7:00pm.
The fire was burning in a paddock, wood stacks and a timbered area.
The crews conducted backburning to get the fire under control and burning within containment lines.
