Firefighters found a timber home well alight when they were called to a house fire in Hamilton Road at South Nanango on Monday afternoon.

Four urban fire units, police and an ambulance responded to the callout, just after 4:30pm.

The owner was on scene but did not require ambulance assistance.

A QFES spokesman said firefighters quickly got on top of the fire, but spent some time dampening down hot spots.

They were not able to determine the cause of the blaze, which gutted the building, so the QFES fire investigation unit was called in.

An investigator was on scene until about 8:00pm but the cause is still unknown.

Rural and urban fire units were called to a vegetation fire burning at Ballogie on Monday afternoon.

The fire, near Evans Road, broke out just before 12:30pm and although it posed no threat to houses an area of about 60 acres was burned out.

Seven fire crews attended on Monday with some staying on scene until about 7:00pm.

The fire was burning in a paddock, wood stacks and a timbered area.

The crews conducted backburning to get the fire under control and burning within containment lines.

Firefighters returned on Tuesday morning to put in more fire breaks and patrol the area.
