St Mary’s Catholic College kicked off the South Burnett’s 2017 formal season on Tuesday night with its annual Valedictory Dinner for Year 12 students at the Kingaroy Town Hall.

Thirty couples – all dressed to impress – arrived in a range of fancy vehicles, ranging from classic Fords and Holdens to a Kenworth prime mover and a bright yellow Jeep.

A crowd of proud relatives and friends waited impatiently in the Town Hall Forecourt as each vehicle pulled up, hoping to catch a glimpse – and grab a photo – of each couple as they paraded up the red carpet into the hall.

The vehicles were carefully spaced to allow the couples plenty of time to make their entrance.

Any gaps were skillfully filled in by P&F president Damien Martoo and teacher Rom Sudall who kept up a running commentary on clothing and cars.

And for the first time in the South Burnett, the arrivals were live-streamed on Facebook. A string of videos can be found on St Mary’s Catholic College’s Facebook page
