Big Yarding At Murgon

A yarding of 850 sold to strong market values in Murgon on Tuesday, with export cattle making up about a quarter of the total numbers.

Cattle were consigned from Biloela, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Nanango, Kingaroy, Gympie and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

• Bullocks sold to $2.87/kg and $1595

• Cows over 500kg topped at $2.44/kg for $1610

• Cows 400-500kg averaged $2.06/kg topping at $2.44/kg

• Cows under 400kg sold to $2.01/kg

• Heavy Export Heifers sold to $2.75/kg for $1420

• Heavy Bulls sold very strongly to a top of $2.77/kg and $2280

• 490kg 2 tooth Charolais cross steers from Murgon sold to $3.00/kg for $1477

• Droughtmaster cross steers from J & H Morris of Wooroonden sold for $3.02/kg and $1435

• 490kg 2 tooth Charolais cross steers from Murgon sold to $3.00/kg for $1477

• 440kg Brangus steers on a/c of G & E Pidgeon sold for $1309 at $2.97/kg

• Charolais steers from N & L Pearce of Tansey sold for $1197 weighing 359kg at $3.33/kg

• 380kg Charbray steers from Moffatdale sold for $3.29/kg, returning $1253

• Charbray steers from Mondure weighing 390kg sold for $1170 at $3.00/kg

• Charolais cross steers weighing 358kg from M. Ferling of Manumbar sold for $1139 ($3.18)

• Charbray weaner steers from R & F Nichol of Mt Perry sold for $3.61/kg returning $1149, $922.00 ($3.61) and $842.00 ($3.70)

• Two pens of Brangus weaner steers from Koobooda Grazing of Gayndah sold for $938.00 ($3.38) and $872.00 ($3.43)

• 266kg Droughtmaster weaner steers from B & A Gannon of Gayndah sold for $894 at $3.35/kg

• Charbray heifers weighing 385kg sold for $1086 at $2.82/kg

• 340kg Brangus heifers from Murgon sold to $992 at $2.90/kg

• 308kg Murray Grey cross heifers from Stonelands sold to $2.90/kg, returning $894

• Charbray weaner heifers from P & J Angel of Murgon sold for $881 and $3.19/kg

• 238kg Droughtmaster weaner heifers sold to $3.10/kg, returning $737

• Braford cross weaner heifers from P & A Dingle of Mt Perry sold for $717 at $3.05/kg

• Aged Droughtmaster cows and calves sold to $1240
