Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has pledged that a future LNP Government will secure the use of the Mill Street Forestry Shed for the Yarraman Men’s Shed.

Mrs Frecklington said on Tuesday she is determined to ensure the former DAF Forestry Shed is not demolished.

“Earlier this year I wrote to the State Government calling on them not to demolish this perfectly good piece of infrastructure, and make it available for the members of the Yarraman Men’s Shed instead,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“It seems crazy that the government would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to tear down a perfectly good building, when they could buy much more suitable land elsewhere in Yarraman.

“I’ll be fighting to ensure the old DAF forestry shed in Yarraman is retained and members of this busy and dedicated group can get in there and get started.”

Mrs Frecklington said she had been working with the Yarraman Men’s Shed for several months on the issue already.

“I am keen to show my support and the support of a future LNP Government for their plans,” she said.

“The building has laid dormant for so long – it just makes sense to make it available for a community group.”
