A $1.3 million bridge which will improve access to the Upper Brisbane Valley will be officially opened at Linville on Wednesday.

The Harry Carey Bridge on Mt Stanley Road has been funded by the Somerset Regional Council and $610,943 from Round 2 of the National Stronger Regions Fund.

The two-lane concrete bridge has replaced a single-lane timber bridge and will support commercial loads.

The structure will also improve heavy vehicle access for the beef cattle industry in the Upper Brisbane Valley.

Up to 42,000 vehicles a year are expected to use the bridge.

The bridge will be officially opened by Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace and Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann.
