The Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association appointed a new executive team at its Annual General Meeting last Thursday (July 6).

Jeff Connor has been appointed president; Les Lane is vice president; Roz Marden will take on the role of secretary; and Emeric Charles, treasurer.

Committee members are Chrissie-Joy Marshall, Rob Moult, Jackie Ross, Kevin Wallace and Joan Wilson.

Jeff Connor said the association is looking forward to another productive year ahead in line with its philosophy.

“We believe that all older members of the community should have access to independent aged living facilities which respect their privacy, dignity and independence and enhances their quality of life,” Jeff said.

Main Street Realty has recently been selected as management agents for the Scott Haven complex and a combination of grants has seen a private seat, an entertainment area and various garden work completed there.

The coming year will see further work in the form of painting, paving and landscaping at both Scott Haven and the neighbouring property at 47 Hart Street, which is now part of the complex.

Consideration of the development of an adjoining block in John Street will continue, along with any other land that might become available for aged care in Blackbutt.

Mr Connor also offered the Association’s support to the caretakers of the newly relocated Blackbutt Memorial Hall, which he believes will be a good venue to offer aged care activities.

He thanked all past committee members, and gave special thanks to his executive and to Melanie Doheny.

Membership of the Aged Care Association is $5 per year (July–June), and enquiries about it can be made by emailing Emeric Charles.
