1750 weaner cattle were auctioned off at the annual June Weaner Sale in Murgon on June 23, with prices only 6c/kg lower than last month’s average

Excellent quality weaners were yarded in Murgon on Friday, June 23 for Pratt Agencies’ annual June Weaner Sale.

The consistent good quality of the weaners yarded was a credit to the vendors.

1750 cattle – 1100 steers and 650 heifers – made up the numbers.

Steers averaged $3.56/kg while the heifers averaged $3.10/kg.

The total yarding averaged $3.38/kg, six cents a kilo less than the May average of $3.44/kg.

  • Prize winning Angus cross steers from B. Ryan of Manumbar sold for $1270
  • The lead of A. J. Bambling’s draft of 220 Braford weaner steers from “Penwhaupell” at Gayndah sold for $1203 at $3.83/kg, with the line averaging $880 at $3.72/kg
  • Charolais steers from A. and R. Barsby at Tansey sold for $1180 at $3.80/kg
  • Droughtmaster steers from S. and N. Roth of Gayndah sold for $3.66/kg, returning $1116
  • Santa cross steers from K. Knight of Johnstown sold for $1116 at $3.59/kg
  • Angus steers from G. and A. Sippel of Redgate sold for $1068
  • Three pens of Santa steers from J. and M. Zillman of Gayndah sold for an average of $913 and $3.70/kg, topping at $1010.00
  • 227 kg Charolais cross steers from G. and J. Zahl of Gayndah sold to $3.80/kg for $863
  • A line of 40 Braford steers from M. and S. Kenny of Gayndah sold for an average of $860
  • Droughtmaster steers from Walgreen Pastoral of Manumbar sold for $3.80/kg to return $781
  • A draft of 70 Droughtmaster steers from Waringa Breeding of Hivesville sold for an average of $834 at $3.73/kg
  • Charbray steers from D. and S. Stevenson of Goomeri sold for $4.01/kg to return $738
  • Charbray heifers from Tansey sold to $1007 and $3.07/kg
  • Charolais heifers from T. and B. Schulz of Moffatdale sold for $3.01/kg, returning $967
  • 313kg Droughtmaster heifers from Gayndah sold to $968 and $3.09/kg
  • 220kg Charolais cross heifers from G. Zahl sold to $3.42/kg, returning $754
  • Droughtmaster cross heifers from B. and P. Roon of Hivesville sold for $798 at $3.25/kg
  • R. and D. Kenny of Gayndah sold a line of 73 Braford heifers for an average of $703 at $3.07/kg. The draft topped at $778 and $3.15/kg
  • Brangus heifers from R. and P. McIntosh of Goomeri sold for $781 and $3.16/kg
  • Santa heifers from D. Stanton of Goomeri sold for $648 at $3.39/kg
  • Santa heifers frm Peenam Pastoral of Manumbar sold for $3.38/kg and $629
  • Brahman cross heifers from M. Smith of Gayndah sold for $631 at $3.30/kg
  • Brangus heifers from E. and S. Pick of Windera sold for $3.30/kg, returning $573
