A sizable 650 head of cattle were yarded in Murgon last Tuesday. with all descriptions selling to firm rates based on the previous sale.
There was a noticeable increase in heavier export cattle, with just over 230 bullocks and cows in this class.
Cattle were consigned from Mt Larcom, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kumbia, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.
- Heavy Bulls topped at $2.69/kg and $2150
- Export Heifers also sold strongly topping at $2.80/kg and $1500
- The best of the heavy cows sold to $2.46/kg
- Cows over 500kg averaged $2.34/kg
- Cows 400-500kg averaged $2.17/kg selling to $2.36/kg
- Cows under 400kg averaged $1.76/kg
- Charbray steers from “Wigton” at Hivesville sold for $3.39/kg, returning $1696
- Droughtmaster steers from R. Glenny of Kumbia sold for $3.35/kg to return $1610
- Droughtmaster cross steers from I. R. Clarke of Redgate sold to $3.32/kg, returning $1520
- Local Santa cross steers weighing 400kg sold for $1340 at $3.32/kg
- 485kg Santa steers sold to $1570 at $3.24/kg
- 380kg Droughtmaster cross steers from A & L Wilkins of Murgon sold for $1290 and $3.40/kg
- Droughtmaster steers from P. Powne of Wheatlands sold for $1250 at $3.40/kg
- Santa steers weighing 385kg from L & T Smith of Mt Larcom sold for $1248 ($3.24/kg)
- Droughtmaster weaner steers from Freedom Farming of Tansey sold for $770 and $3.53/kg
- Charbray weaner steers from B & K King of Mundubbera sold for $706 at $3.54/kg
- Quality Simmental cross weaner steers from Nicolson Family Trust of Mundubbera sold for $877
- Local Charbray Heifers weighing 430kg sold for $1222 and $2.84/kg
- 316kg Santa Heifers sold to $3.20/kg, returning $1011
- 272kg Santa weaner heifers from K & M Sippel of Goomeri sold for $911 at $3.35/kg
- 250kg Charbray weaner heifers from D & G Wolter of Moffatdale sold for $810 and $3.24/kg
- Light Brahman cross heifers from Hivesvillle sold for $618
