Nanango State School students were introduced to futsal last Thursday when two regional coaches visited the school.

Nearly a dozen students took up the offer of training from the coaches, one of whom is a former Australian junior coach

The students learned the skills very quickly and look forward to an ongoing program and eventual games.

The community-based program is entirely focused on basic skills development.

Some of the best soccer players started with futsal.

The game is played indoors, in a quick reaction-based environment, and originates from countries where children don’t play soccer until they are teenagers.

South Burnett Futsal also thanked Principal Michael Flood for helping to bring the sport to the school.
