Members of the local community – and some visitors from much further away – gathered at the Kumbia Cricket Grounds recently for a fun day of fundraising.

The day was planned to assist the Kumbia Kindy as well as the Kumbia Cricket Club.

Although the local cricket season is well and truly over, many of the participants came along wielding cricket bats.

A string of seven-a-side mini cricket matches were played, with each team paying $70 to take part.

There were young and old, men and women, taking their chances out on the wicket.

But just to be fair, there were modified rules for the less experienced (and much shorter) players.

As well as scampering around the oval chasing cricket balls, children could also enjoy pony rides, face-painting and other activities.

For the adults, the bar and canteen were open all day.
