Who’ll be first? The eager runners charge out of the fog at the starting line at Murgon Showground at the 2016 Reconciliation Fun Run

April 20, 2017

Registrations have opened for this year’s Ration Shed Reconciliation Fun Run from Murgon Showgrounds to Cherbourg.

This 4th annual run has three main aims: to raise funds to help support the activities held at the Ration Shed Museum throughout the year, to promote reconciliation and friendship, and to have FUN!

The 7km event will be held on Sunday, May 21.

As usual, there’ll be a mix of participants. Some runners take it very seriously, others much more leisurely … and walking is quite okay, too.

At the end of the course, there’ll be activities to enjoy in Cherbourg Memorial Park, including market stalls, dancers, games and food.

The Cherbourg-Murgon Road will be closed from 8:00am-10:00am to ensure the safety of runners.

But to stop people becoming stranded at one end or the other of the course, buses will leave Cherbourg at 6:45am for a check-in at 7:00am at Murgon Showgrounds.

Shuttles will also run between Cherbourg and Murgon from 10:00am to 1:00pm to allow runners to be reunited with their cars.

Cost to take part in the Reconciliation Fun Run is:

  • Child (up to 18 years old) $5.00
  • Child (part of a local school entry) $2.00
  • Adult (18 years and over) $20.00
  • Adult (pensioner) $12.00
  • Family group $50.00

Registrations can be made on The Ration Shed Museum’s website

  • Footnote: The Ration Shed Museum is also currently running a crowd-funding campaign in conjunction with the Reconciliation Fun Run. Donations to support the event can be made on the Chuffed website
