Category B financial assistance for flood-affected producers has been extended to included the North Burnett Regional Council.

Agriculture Minister Bill Byrne said flooding had damaged properties in the Three Moon Creek area, destroying planted mung bean crops, damaging fences and causing erosion.

Category B assistance under the joint Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) allows eligible producers access to concessional loans of up to $250,000 and essential working capital loans of up to $100,000 and freight subsidies of up to $5000.

There are now 13 regional council areas that are Category B declared for primary producers:

  • Mackay Regional Council
  • Whitsunday Regional Council
  • Central Highlands Regional Council
  • Gladstone City Council
  • Gold Coast City Council
  • Isaac Regional Council
  • Livingstone Shire Council
  • Logan City Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Rockhampton Regional Council
  • Banana Regional Council
  • North Burnett Regional Council

Primary producers who have suffered significant damage as a result of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie but are not in a disaster-declared area, can apply for an Individual Disaster Stricken Property (IDSP) declaration.

This declaration provides access to Category B NDRRA assistance of freight subsidies and concessional loans.
