Fixed wireless NBN broadband is now available in the Bells Bridge area, east of Kilkivan.
Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said the broadband would be available to more than 140 homes and businesses in the region.
Residents in Bells Bridge can begin ordering their NBN service from a retail service provider this week.
Fixed wireless technology offers wholesale download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, more than twice as fast as ADSL2+ services in metropolitan areas.
Mr O’Brien said the rollout in the Wide Bay was gathering pace.
“Our changes to Labor’s original rollout have prevented monthly internet bills increasing by up to $43 per month and saved around $30 billion in project funding,” Mr O’Brien said.
