The Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spots Program has increased mobile phone coverage in Cooyar with 4G services now available.
“The new 4G site has been switched on by Vodafone Australia,” Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said.
“This means more than 260 homes will now have mobile phone voice and data access.
“Coverage has been extended to include about 744 sq km, bolstering the communication network to include the New England Highway and the Oakey-Cooyar Road.”
Mr Littleproud said mobile phone coverage was more than just communication for rural and remote communities.
“Breaks in our communications hinder emergency services, tourism and business,” he said.
“That’s why this program is so important for Maranoa and why I’ve been advocating so hard on this issue.”
