A boy was seriously injured when his pushbike was struck by a car in the South Burnett on Thursday.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the school-aged boy was urgently airlifted to Brisbane.

The incident occurred about 40km from Murgon.

A LifeFlight helicopter was despatched from Brisbane about noon to retrieve the seriously injured child from Murgon Hospital.

The boy, who suffered suspected head injuries, was flown to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
