A woman was trapped by her lower legs in her wrecked sedan for more than an hour after a single-vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident, near Barkers Creek Flat north of Nanango, about 9:00am, after the woman’s car ran off the road and hit a culvert.

The highway was closed for more than an hour while emergency personnel worked to free the woman, aged in her 60s, from the vehicle.

SES volunteers diverted traffic via Bushnells, Brooklands and Parsons roads.

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter landed nearby to allow the helicopter’s critical care doctor and flight paramedic to treat the woman at the scene.

The woman was cut free and airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition with fractures.
