The first overseas passenger flight took off from the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Sunday morning, carrying about 200 local businesspeople on a trade mission to China.
The AccessChina trip has been organised by economic development body, Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE).
The businesspeople flew in a chartered Qantas A330 and were due to arrive in Shanghai at 6:30pm on Sunday, local time.
Ahead of them are five days of conference sessions and tours covering topics including agriculture, education and tourism, energy and resources, design and manufacturing, and health and aged care.
Cathay Pacific Airways will start operating a weekly international air cargo service out of Wellcamp Airport on November 22.
