Direct flights from Wellcamp Airport to Townsville will begin on Monday, November 28.

The three weekly Toowoomba-Townsville services will be operated by Airnorth.

The flights will also connect to flights to Darwin after a short 30-minute stopover at Townsville.

“You are literally one stop away from Darwin and the international flights that depart from Darwin and Townsville,” Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport general manager Phil Gregory said.

“This just gives our community more options for a long weekend away in Townsville and Darwin or an international holiday.”

Passengers would also be able to earn and redeem Qantas Frequent Flyer points on the new service, which would be operated under a code share arrangement with Qantas.

When this new service begins, there will be 72 regular passenger transport services a week in and out of Wellcamp to four main destinations: Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Townsville.
