The storms brought down branches and debris along the Burnett and Bunya Highways.
There were also reports of large trees down in the Kingaroy, Booie, South Nanango and Redgate areas.
The western end of River Road was closed for a short time because of a fallen tree.
SES volunteers were kept busy with callouts about damaged roofs.
The Nanango Blue Light Committee’s Christmas Festival in the Blue Light Hall in George Street went ahead despite the heavy rain and power issues.
Strong gusts of wind, light rain and a dramatic light show in the sky from the nearby storms wasn’t enough to scare off patrons at the Murgon Christmas Carnival in Lamb Street which attracted a good crowd, although rides were cancelled.
