Kingaroy Basketball Association A Grade Grand Final winners … Thunder
A leap … and Thunder’s lead goes to 33-22

December 8, 2015

Thunder roared to a 48-29 victory over Sharks in the Grand Final of the Kingaroy Basketball Association’s Season 2 played on Tuesday night.

It was a reverse of the Season 1 grand final played in June when Sharks recorded a shock win.

The first quarter this time around was very even, with Thunder just ahead 8-7.

At half-time, Sharks were still easily within range, only four goals behind.

However, Thunder began to extend their lead in the third quarter and it blew out in the last after Sharks were reduced to four after a player fouled out.

After the match, the Most Valued Players for the season – determined on a points system allocated to the top five players each week – were announced.

In top spot was Chris Theurkauf (22 points), followed by Boden Clark (19pts), Angelo Gayatgay (14pts), Nathan Leeman (14pts) and Troy Chambers (14pts).

Each was presented with a basketball.

Chris Theurkauf was also given a trophy for Referees’ Choice – Player of the Final.
