Students from Saint Mary’s Catholic College have continued their run of success at the annual Fraser Coast Equestrian Competition in Maryborough.
Patrick Frohloff (Year 7) and Jade Novak (Year 11) were Age Champion and Reserve Age Champion respectively.
For Patrick, it was the 5th year in a row he has won the event.
280 riders from 71 different schools competed in this year’s competition, which contested a diverse range of events including dressage, showjumping, hacking, sporting events, and a stockman’s challenge.
However the usual campdrafting event was cancelled due to a shortage of suitable cattle.
Saint Mary’s team of 10 riders had success in many individual events:
- Bridget Barkle (Year 12): 1st Dressage, 2nd Pleasure Hack, 2nd Rider Class, 4th Led Hack
- Jayde Novak (Year 11): 1st Led Hack, 1st Dressage, 1st Pleasure Hack, 2nd Rider Class
- Maddison Wintour (Year 10): 2nd Showjumping
- Erin Newman (Year 10): 4th Showjumping
- Bonnie Winch (Year 10): 5th Barrel Racing
- Renee Irvine (Year 9): 5th Showjumping
- Meg Wernecke (Year 8): 1st Showjumping, 4th Dressage
- Patrick Frohloff (Year 7): 1st Led Hack, 1st Dressage, 1st Pleasure Hack, 2nd Rider Class
- Molly Wernecke (Year 6): 3rd Keyhole Race, 4th Bending, 3rd Teddy Bear Race, 5th Pleasure Hack
Congratulation to all the riders – and their very supportive parents – for a great effort!
