The South Burnett Regional Council is advising residents that water meter readers will begin a systematic inspection of all metered premises, beginning on Saturday (May 30).
All metered premises connected to the water supply schemes in Blackbutt, Boondooma, Kingaroy, Kumbia, Murgon, Nanango, Proston, Proston Rural, Tingoora, Wondai and Wooroolin will visited and water meter readings recorded.
The program is expected to continue until Friday, July 31, and will be conducted between 6:00am and 6:00pm daily.
The water meter reading program collects information for the billing of water consumption that will be included on the quarterly rate notice to be issued in October 2015.
Meter reading personnel may be required to enter properties to gain access to and read the water meters.
CEO Gary Wall said residents were required to restrain their dogs during this period, and check that garden vegetation does not obstruct access to the water meters.
So why is this news, is this something new? They need to warn other drivers that there could be a water meter reading vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road as the reader yells out the reading to the driver in the vehicle, the reason being I guess is that the driver is closer to the meter reader and can hear the info, accident waiting to happen ? I’m unsure of what the driver of the vehicle does with that info as he/she is driving!!!!!!
Peter, we published this information because some readers may forget their water meters get read by real people twice a year; might get alarmed to find a stranger on their properties; and might set their dog on the meter reader (which can get them into all sorts of trouble).
