Award-winning Kingaroy-based journalist, blogger and occasional southburnett.com.au columnist Bronwyn Marquardt will be part of the line-up at this year’s University of Southern Queensland’s annual writers’ festival.

“USQ Bookcase” will be at Toowoomba on July 18-19 with its biggest line-up yet.

Bronwyn is a proud USQ graduate and says she is chuffed to be a part of the event.

Headlining this year is Walkley Award-winning ABC journalist and Toowoomba local, Mark Willacy.

Mark will present the keynote address on Saturday. July 18. and sit on the “Meet the Press” panel.

“The festival is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring writers to workshop ideas and seek inspiration. It’s also wonderful for the community to come along and be part of this festival of books and ideas,” he said.

More than 30 authors, writers, journalists, commentators, speakers and thinkers will be taking part in the festival’s 26 events across the weekend.

Also in attendance will be Australian author Holly Hill, romance writer Kylie Kaden, award-winning children’s author and illustrator Narelle Oliver, fantasy author Kylie Chan and ARIA-nominated songwriter Mark Scholtes.

As well as the 12 free workshops, panel discussions and author Q&As, this year four full-day masterclasses will be offered for people who want to delve deeper into their chosen writing genre.

Topics include Fantasy Writing, Travel Writing, Creative Writing and Journalism.

The festival is open to the public and will run from 9:30am to 4:00pm on both days.

Entry is $5 per person, with children under 12 free.

Full-day masterclasses cost $65 for USQ alumni, students and staff ($75 for others) and includes entry to the festival.
