This afternoon’s thunderstorms left thousands of homes without power for several hours at various locations throughout the South Burnett.
A blackout hit Yarraman about 2:20pm forcing the bank, IGA Supermarket and hotels to close their doors. Power came back on about 3:40pm after Ergon Energy crews re-energised the Nanango and Yarraman sub-stations, restoring power to about 12,000 customers.
Ergon has also restored power from the Murgon sub-station, reconnecting about 7000 customers in the Murgon, Cherbourg, Goomeri, Proston and Wondai areas who had been left in the dark due to faults on sub-transmission lines.
About 600 customers in the Kilkivan area who lost power have also been reconnected.
About 500 customers on the Cooyar feeder remained without supply until Ergon crews could check on reports of a damaged power pole at Maidenwell.
At 4:00pm, about 900 Ergon Energy customers east of Kingaroy, about 1000 in the Biggenden region and 2000 in the Mundubbera and Eidsvold areas still had their power supply affected.
UPDATE: Power on the Cooyar feeder was restored at 6:47pm.
