The Nanango and District Kindergarten hosted a South Burnett wine tasting tour last year as a fundraiser, and it turned out to be such a success they’ve decided to do exactly the same this year, too.
“Our kindy only receives 80 per cent of its funding from the government and the other 20 per cent has to raised through fundraisers and fees,” Kindy vice-president Maxine Whitbread said.
“There are some really great wineries in our region that offer fantastic food as well as wine, and we like to support our local businesses, so this seemed like a great way to do some fundraising.
“We had a variety of age groups last year and everyone had a ball,” she said.
“We even had guests from Brisbane, and they’re keen to join us again this year too.”
The tour will be held on Saturday, October 25.
A bus will collect guests outside the Nanango and District Kindy at 34 Gipps Street in Nanango at 8:00am, and also from the Taabinga State School in Rae Street, Kingaroy at 8:30am.
The group will be visiting at least four wineries throughout the day and will be sampling the treats the each winery has to offer, including wood-fired pizzas at Kingsley Grove and lunch at Moffatdale Ridge.
“This will be a great day out, as well as a chance to meet like-minded people and help support your local kindy,” president Leonie Legge said.
Tickets for the tour are $65 each and include morning tea, lunch, wine tastings and transport.
They need to be booked and paid for no later than October 15, and can be obtained by phoning Maxine on 0410-136-013 or Leonie on 0488-633-616.
