The Easter Bunny delivered an extra special treat of about $322,500 to South Burnett community groups in the Nanango and Callide electorates this week, with the announcement of successful applicants in the latest round of State Government community grants.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said it was wonderful to announce the groups who had been successful through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund.
“We recognise how important our community groups are and we also recognise that they are always facing financial pressures. That’s why this State Government funding program is so important and offers our groups a chance to achieve their goals and improve their services,” Mrs Frecklington said.
Sharing in $152,500 in the Nanango electorate are:
- South Burnett Little Athletics
- South Burnett Woodcrafters
- Blackbutt Show Society
- Boots ‘n Bulldust Inc
- Orana Lutheran Complex
- Goodstart Kingaroy
In the Callide electorate, a total of $170,000 grants will be divided between:
- Wondai & District Band
- Stepping Black Indigenous Corporation (South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show)
- Durong South Primary P&C
- Burnett Flyers Inc
- Monogorilby Primary P&C Association
- Gundoo Aboriginal Corporation
- Proston District Golf Club
- Gympie & South Burnett Division QCWA
- Wondai Country Club
Mrs Frecklington said it was rewarding to see profits from gambling making a positive difference to the people of the South Burnett as well as the volunteers who generously donate their time.
