Ergon Energy has introduced a monthly payment plan to help customers cope with “bill shock”.
Executive General Manager Retail Ros Baker said Pay-Per-Month was designed to prompt customers to make advance payments towards their quarterly bill, breaking it up into smaller pieces.
Both residential and business customers are able to participate, as long as their meters are read quarterly.
Ms Baker said the payment program was targeted at customers who would like assistance with budgeting their bills.
“Those customers who are struggling to make payments may be able to access Ergon’s monthly payment program. Under the plan, Ergon will send a notice to customers in the two months between a quarterly bill around the same day of the month, prompting them to make payment,” she said.
“The aim is to cover a third of the quarterly bill amount in each pay-per-month instalment, with the remaining third due on their regular bill.
“The due date of the quarterly bill will not change, and any pay-per-month instalments made towards it will be shown under the ‘Payments Received’ section of the regular bill.”
Ms Baker said pay-per-month was a great option to assist customers to manage their electricity payments more regularly instead of one full quarterly payment.
“We’ll help them estimate their monthly payments to get them started on the new pay–per-month program,” she said.
