A 79-year-old man injured in a two-vehicle collision at Tingoora on Monday has died in hospital.

The man, from Woorim on Bribie Island, was initially thought to have non life-threatening injuries but his condition worsened in hospital.

Police confirmed this evening that the man died from his injuries last night in the PA Hospital.

The elderly man was the driver of a Kia hatchback which collided with a Commodore ute at the intersection of the Bunya Highway and the Chinchilla-Wondai Road.

His wife was also flown to hospital in Brisbane for treatment, while the driver of the second vehicle – a 28-year-old Greenview man – was treated in Kingaroy Hospital for minor injuries.

Police investigations into the crash are continuing.
