Last night’s spectacular lightning had a downside with about 1700 Ergon Energy customers on the northside of Kingaroy losing power for about two hours.
Residents in the Jarrah and Carinya street areas reported hearing a massive bang shortly before they lost power at 9:34pm.
An Ergon Energy spokesman said a transformer was damaged in Carinya Street.
Meanwhile, about 400 Ergon customers in Nanango and areas north to Runnymede had their power supply interrupted about 2:00am when a tree branch fell on a back-stay.
This caused the cross-arm to break and dislodged a high-voltage power line in Phipps Street, North Nanango.
Power was restored to all but 17 customers in the immediate vicinity of the damaged pole at 7:00am and then fully reinstated after the damage was repaired at 8:35am.
