About 600 customers across the South Burnett were still without power at 9:00pm tonight after a line of storms crossed the region earlier this evening.

An Ergon Energy spokesman said 775 lightning strikes were recorded in the South Burnett area.

The biggest challenge facing workers was reinstating power to 230 customers in Benarkin where there were multiple reports of trees falling on power lines.

Crews are also working to restore power to 150 customers west of Nanango, who were among 1020 in the Nanango region affected when power lines came down in Hazeldean Road about 4:50pm.

Estimated restoration times are not available.

There are also smaller customer numbers affected in other parts of the South Burnett.

Ergon crews have been working throughout the storm-affected areas to repair multiple downed high-voltage power lines and replace blown fuses caused by lightning strikes on the network.

At the height of the storms, about 3000 Ergon Energy customers across the South West, Darling Downs and South Burnett lost power but most have since been re-connected.
