The average overnight visitor to the South Burnett or Cherbourg is visiting friends or relatives, lives in regional Queensland, stays 2.9 nights and spends $349.

Daytrippers, in comparison, are most likely to have driven from the Fraser Coast for the purpose of having a holiday or visiting friends, and spend $119.

This snapshot of local tourism is provided in the Local Area Tourism Profile released today by Tourism and Events Queensland.

The profiles provide key travel and demographic details about visitors to Queensland’s local areas.

The profiles include data on the number of day-trippers as well as domestic overnight and international visitors to each area.

The data has been sourced from Tourism Research Australia’s National Visitor Survey and International Visitor Survey.

It has been averaged over a four or five year period to increase the stability of the data.

TEQ has warned the data should be interpreted as indicative only.
