A handbrake failure on a parked truck has been blamed for a blackout which hit parts of Kingaroy this morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the vehicle had been parked in Kent Street with its handbrake on when it suddenly rolled about 20m and hit a power pole outside the fire station.
An Ergon Energy spokesman said the incident, at 6:52am, resulted in a 45-minute power supply interruption to about 900 Ergon Energy customers in the Kingaroy CBD and nearby homes.
Power was restored at 7:37am.
About another 1000 customers lost power for about a minute to enable the restoration of supply to the customers originally affected.
