Kingaroy Waste Water Treatment Plant
Kingaroy's ageing Waste Water Treatment Plant will be getting an urgent $650,000 upgrade this year

July 3, 2013

The South Burnett Regional Council will spend almost $10 million upgrading the region’s water and sewerage infrastructure this year as part of a 10-year, $90 million replacement program.

Upgrades to the Kingaroy Water Supply system will consume more than 75 per cent of this year’s spend on water supplies, with a $4 million upgrade of Kingaroy’s water treatment plant and $1.5 million spent on replacement of mains, the rising main and reservoirs.

The remaining $1.76 million will be spread across the region’s other seven water supply schemes.

Kingaroy will also consume more than half of this year’s $2.59 million spend on sewerage, with an upgrade to the Kingaroy Sewerage Plant and mains replacements.

But work will also be undertaken at the Nanango and Murgon treatment plants and the Proston treatment lagoons, as well as mains replacements in Blackbutt, Nanango, Wondai and Murgon.
