Electrical safety for rural workers is the subject of one of three new safety videos from Ergon Energy

June 26, 2013

Ergon Energy has joined forces with its NSW counterparts to produce a series of videos aimed at encouraging safe work practices around powerlines.

The videos include re-enactments of previous accidents on worksites.

One production is also aimed specifically at educating emergency service workers about safe action around electricity-related incidents.

“With three serious electrical injuries in the building/construction sector in regional Queensland last year, the issue of workplace safety around electricity remains critical,” General Manager Health, Safety and Environment John Cass said.

“Ergon has developed one of the electricity industry’s most successful network safety campaigns in recent years through its Community Electrical Safety Awareness Plan, but there is still more work to be done and these video presentations will help that mission.”

The three videos focus on scenarios related to urban, rural and emergency services environments.

They were produced in conjunction with NSW power distributors Essential Energy, Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy.

The safety videos produced for urban, rural and emergency services work environments can be viewed on Ergon Energy’s website:
