South Burnett tourism operators have joined a new $221,000 tourism marketing campaign to encourage travellers to enjoy a romantic getaway to Southern Queensland Country during winter.
Southern Queensland Country Tourism CEO Mary-Clare Power said the new campaign, developed in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, targeted travellers in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
“Southern Queensland Country experiences the coldest temperatures in the State. This campaign brings to life the essence of winter in Southern Queensland Country, and reminds people why winter is such a good time to visit,” she said.
“There’s nothing more invigorating than winter in the country, where you can slow down and breathe in the freshest air. You can also take the time to savour fantastic local food and wine, and get cosy by the log fire with loved ones.
“There are some wonderful creative executions in this comprehensive campaign that includes outdoor, print, online and radio. We also have a fun competition running where Facebookers can write their loved ones’ initials into condensation to win a prize.
“Brisbane coffee-drinkers will also be reminded about the romance of winter in the country via coffee cups distributed across popular independent coffee outlets across Brisbane’s CBD.
The campaign demonstrates to potential visitors the countless opportunities Southern Queensland Country provides to bond with their nearest and dearest. We offer the kind of break where you can get away from it all and reconnect with what’s important in life,” Ms Power said.
Thirteen industry operators have joined SQCT in the campaign; South Burnett operators include Hillview Cottages and Deshons Retreat.
The campaign, which features special offers, will run through to August.
