Police investigating the death last week of Kingaroy man Shaun Miles have appealed for any witnesses who may have seen him in the vicinity of the Kingaroy Post Office – or any suspicious behaviour in Alford Street – to come forward.

Mr Miles’  body was located about 7:00am on Friday morning on the corner of Alford Street East and Fisher Street by a Kingaroy solicitor and a friend who were out jogging.

His widow, Gail Miles, told a News Limited reporter she had been at the Club Hotel with her husband earlier in the evening when he was allegedly involved in a scuffle. He had later decided to walk home.

Kingaroy Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police had spoken to a number of people who had been at the hotel, however they were still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the deceased man on Thursday night, especially anyone they have not yet spoken to.

“Anyone who may have seen the man in the Kingaroy CBD around the Post Office corner between 10:00pm and midnight on Thursday night should either contact local police or CrimeStoppers,” he said.

Snr Sgt Frank confirmed that police have CCTV footage from the hotel.

Scientific police from Brisbane have also examined and analysed the area near where the body was found.

Police were still awaiting medical advice about the cause of death although they were hoping to have the results of the autopsy shortly.

Snr Sgt Frank warned the police investigation may take some time.

“We have to work the process to establish the facts, extract evidence and determine exactly what has occurred, including any culpability,” he said.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.”

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Kingaroy Police on (07) 4160-4900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.
