Ergon Energy repair crews hope to restore power to nine remaining customers located in the Redgate area near the Burnett Highway as soon as flood waters recede.

About 800 Ergon Energy customers in Redgate, Moffatdale, Cherbourg and rural areas further to the south and east had their power supply interrupted just after midnight on Saturday morning.

By 8:30am, crews patrolling the line route progressively had reduced this to nine customers, which included some farm sheds, however they couldn’t proceed any further due to a flooded creek.

A helicopter patrol yesterday located a downed high-voltage power line in the creek but crews were unable to access the area to repair the damage.

Ergon has attempted to contact the affected customers to offer them generator sets but understands a number have moved out because of the flooding.

Crews are continuing to monitor flood levels and will repair the damage as soon as possible.
