A man charged with murder after a death at an engagement party in Nanango has been committed to face trial.

A three-day committal hearing against Stephen Doyle, 38, wound up in Kingaroy Magistrates Court last Wednesday.

Doyle, 38, has been charged with the murder of Michael Thomsen, 37, at Nanango, on September 3, 2011.

Witnesses told the court Thomsen suffered a fatal knife wound during a fight which occurred at an engagement party for his daughter, Bianca.

Magistrate Mark Bucknall found there was evidence to support a prima facie case against Doyle and committed him to face trial at the Supreme Court in Brisbane at a date to be fixed.
