Ergon Energy is offering residential customers in the South Burnett two cash-back incentives to connect their pool pump or hot water system to an economy tariff.
“The cost of running the pool pump can add up, so we’re offering up to $250 cash back for customers to connect their pool pump to Tariff 33,” Ergon spokesman David Heberlein said.
Ergon is also offering up to $100 cash back for customers to connect their hot water systems to either Tariff 31 or Tariff 33.
“Compared with the cost of running their pool pump or hot water system on Tariff 11, customers could save up to 30 per cent with Tariff 33,” Mr Heberlein said.
“Plus, with no minimum monthly fee on Tariff 31 or 33, customers will only pay for what they use.”
The cash-back offers are available to help customers with the cost of getting a licensed electrician to make these tariff changes. The offers are also designed to increase the number of pool pumps and hot water systems connected to an economy tariff and help reduce the demand for electricity during peak times.
Tariff 33 is available for a minimum of 18 hours a day, usually outside the morning and evening peak periods. Tariff 31, which is the most economical tariff available, provides power supply for a minimum of eight hours during the night, usually between 10:00pm and 7:00am.
Ergon said residential customers should speak with their electrician about the best option for their household and make sure their pool pump or hot water system was suitable for connection to an economy tariff.
