A serious crash involving two semi-trailers and two cars blocked the Brisbane Valley Highway near Fernvale for more than 10 hours last night.

The  two trucks jack-knifed in the incident, blocking the highway between Mockers and Harris Roads on the southern approach to Fernvale.

Police set up a diversion around the scene, via Glamorgan Vale Road and Fernvale Road.

About 3:00am the road was re-opened to a single lane under traffic control.

A police spokesman said two drivers – who were trapped in their vehicles for a short time – were injured in the pile-up.

A truck driver was taken to Ipswich Hospital with suspected head and leg injuries.

A car driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with a suspected broken leg and a broken pelvis.
